Event Details
In his latest outdoor adventure songster Little John Nee is joined by musician Fionn Robinson as they travel across County Galway determined to make friends with nature. But, it appears that sometimes nature doesn’t want to be friends. Through song and comedy, Little John and Fionn tackle some difficult questions that cannot be ignored: Why is sea water salty not sweet? What’s the story with nettles?
In ‘Salt of the Sea’ Little John and long-time collaborator Fionn present a travelling outdoor concert of songs and stories, featuring a variety of intriguing instruments played with comic gusto and questionable virtuosity. The stories and songs centre around themes that engage the existential curiosity of young audiences regarding our relationship with the living things that surround us, from nettles to jellyfish, from cherry blossom trees to bees knees and the rare human being that is Captain Salt, who lives in a tugboat but has never been to sea. Ultimately, this show is a celebration of life and community that provides a much needed boost to the immune system through laughter, wonder, and song. Recommended Age: 6+. Performance Duration: 35-40 minThis show plays outdoors and is presented on 'Festival in a Van' in rural venues, schools and libraries. Please dress according to the weather.

This is the perfect event aiming to blend our rich culture of tea drinking and appreciation of art. Ireland consumes 2.2kg of tea per person each year putting us second in the world for tea consumption per capita! Guest artist Pavithra Kannan will present her tea ceremony workshop ‘A Sip & Beyond’.
Pavithra uses the international practice of drinking tea as a medium for conversations –creating interactions within our community while celebrating the art of conversations. Pavithra - a social engaged artist, living in Tuam, invites you to join her at the Station on Fri 23rd September from 6pm - 7pm. This is a free workshop for anyone who is interested in our cultural consumption of tea & the magic of conversations that unfold while drinking it! Pavithra will share with attendees her own family recipe for Indian Masala Chai - it takes the Irish cuppa to a whole new level!! Pavithra will also guide us through the process & there is even time to make some art with yes you've guessed it tea as a material!! Book your place on this enjoyable workshop hereAn Artful Brew also presents ‘Curacha’, an exhibition of hand painted traditional Irish curachs by top class professional artists from Kerry to Belfast. Each of the 6 foot currach creations, fabricated in metal & covered in canvas have been hand-painted by a wide variety of artists from some of the best known visual artists in Ireland to exciting emerging talents and people who live in small coastal communities or offshore Gaeltacht islands. These currachs were initially created to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Áras Éanna on Inis Oirr and were on display at the art centre and around the island. We are super excited that a dozen of these unique currachs will be exhibited outdoors at the Station from 6pm - 9pm only on Fri 23rd September.
Culture Night is brought to you by the Arts Council Ireland in partnership with the Galway County Council & Galway County Arts Office.more

Event Details
The North East Galway Fit-Up Theatre Festival returns to County Galway for 2022.
Rural villages in North East Galway will enjoy three weeks of fantastic theatre from Tuesday September 27th until Sunday 16th October. The Three Rings in association with Galway County Council Arts Office with support from the Arts Council will present three award winning plays as they reintroduce Fit Up Theatre to Galway communities.
This year’s tour will include performances in venues at Skehana Community Hall (Tuesdays: 27th Sept, 4th & 11th Oct), Dunmore Town Hall (Wednesdays: 28th Sept, 5th & 12th Oct), Fohenagh Hall (Thursdays: 29th Sept, 6th & 13th Oct), Kilcoona Social Centre (Fridays: 30th Sept, 7th & 14th October) ,The Mall Theatre, Tuam (Saturdays 1st, 8th & 15th October) and The Storehouse, Ballyglunin Station(Sundays 2nd, 9th 16th October ) with performances taking place at 8pm each night.
The Fit-Up Festival is based on the old ‘Fit-Ups’ which were at their height of popularity in the 1930s, 40s and 50s when travelling theatre companies travelled around Ireland to rural communities performing in make-shift venues. There were once 52 travelling theatre companies in Ireland, Anew MacMaster’s being the most famous and well-known to Galway audiences of the time. Harrold Pinter once performed in Tuam as part of one of McMaster’s shows. The resurrection of the Fit-Up model began in West Cork in 2009 as the brainchild of director Geoff Gould and has now become a popular feature in Cork's calendar of events and now Three Rings are set to do the same for Galway. The Galway Fit-Up began in 2021 touring Noni Stapleton’s Charolais and is delighted to announce it will be expanding to three weeks this year. The goal of the Fit-Up festival in North East Galway is to build new audiences for contemporary theatre in remote rural communities while offering touring opportunities for Ireland’s best theatre makers, writers and performers.
Capacity is limited in each of the venues so it is advisable to book tickets in advance. For bookings and further information call 0879677732 / 0872372820. Tickets €15/€12.50 with an amazing discounted ticket of €5 available to those who worked on the front line during the pandemic (ID proof req). €50 family tickets are available for groups of x 4 people and season tickets (all 3 plays) are €40.
More info at here and on the Three Rings Facebook page.

Tom Barry, fresh after releasing his debut album Lighthouse last year will play an intimate gig in the beautiful Waiting Room at Ballyglunin Station Galway.
Tom was born in Dublin, raised in Tipperary, schooled in Cork, trained in Kildare and studied and fell in love in Galway. He is a nomad having travelled the country and the world as an Irish army officer for 23 years. In all that time music was at the heart of everything Tom did. The guitar was never too far from his side.
Tom undertook song writing workshops led by the great John Spillane during COVID lockdowns. This has led him to a collection of songs that he can truly call his own, helped along the way by amazing people.
